REPUBLIC SERVICES

CURBSIDE GARBAGE COLLECTION

Starting April 1, 2010

Dear Valued Customer of Memorial Northwest HOA:

As a friendly reminder, your service days are Monday and Thursday with heavy trash collection on the 2nd collection day of the week (Thursday).  Your yard waste should be placed at the curb within five (5) feet of the paved roadway, by 7:00 a.m.  MNW will switch from back door collection to curbside collection. Starting Thursday, April 1, 2010 your household waste should be placed at the curb in a waste container not exceeding (35) gallons or in a plastic trash bag.  

In the event that one of the collection days falls on a holiday, we will collect your waste on the next regularly scheduled collection day (excluding Sunday).  Scheduled holidays will include:  New Year’s Day, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day (4th of July), Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.   In the event of an “Act of God”, we will collect your waste on the following scheduled collection day.

Republic Services will collect and dispose of all your residential garbage unless restricted by law or if the item would cause damage to the collection equipment.  Listed are some items that are restricted: cross ties, tires, solvents, paint, petroleum products, pool chemicals, fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides, hazardous materials/chemicals, logs or stumps, car batteries, soil, rocks, concrete, carpet, padding, construction material, medical waste, medical sharps and closed containers.

Refrigeration Units: Refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers or items that contain CFC’s (freon), by law, must have the gas removed by a licensed technician and be red tagged prior to collection.  

Heavy Trash: Appliances, hot water heaters, mattresses, heavy or large volumes of yard waste and other white goods, appropriate for disposal shall be placed within five feet of the curbside and will be collected on the 2nd collection day of the week (Thursday). All branches and tree limbs must be cut to four (4’) lengths and tied in small bundles that can be lifted and handled by a single person. Bundles should be no larger than eighteen inches (18’) in diameter and weight no more than fifty (40’) pounds.

Republic Waste will supply your recycle bin. 

Call 281-446-2030 to have one delivered to your home, if you don't have one.

How do we  recycle?

Simply take the recycle bin to the curb on Thursday morning.

What do we recycle?

Newspapers and all the filler (ads)
Any other paper, magazines, phone books
Cardboard (paperboard or corrugated), folded flat
Plastic containers

Plastic bags
Aluminum cans & bi-metal cans (from food items)
Please wash out recycle
d items containing foods items.
Do not remove labels

No glass, no polystyrene (styrofoam).

Just a reminder:
Trash is removed on Monday and Thursday.
All heavy items
, including yard waste, are to be taken to the curb.

The rate is $14.95 plus $3.00 (recycling)  (+ tax) per month.  
 

Garbage and trash collection is contracted by the MNW Homeowners' Association with an independent trash collector.  Each resident is billed quarterly for the service.  

This service includes the following:

   Garbage Pick-up - Pick-up is on Monday and Thursday of each week.

  • Each home may have an unlimited amount of garbage each pick-up day.
  • Bags or containers must be strudily tied or closed since collectors WILL NOT PICK UP SCATTERED OR LOOSE TRASH.

   Trash Pick-up - Pick-up is on Monday and Thursday of each week.

  • Each home may have an unlimited amount of trash and bundles of trimming each pick-up day.
  • Tree trimmings must be tied in bundles not to exceed 3 feet in length.
  • All trash and trimmings must be a curb side.

Holidays - There will be no collection if holidays fall on a regular pick-up day.  The next collection will be on the following regularly scheduled pick-up day.  

   Holidays are as follows:

  • New Year's Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day (July 4)
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas

Please do not set out trash until the evening before pick-up.  Pick-up of large and cumbersome items such as moving boxes, refrigerators, etc. must be placed on the curb and will be picked up on Thursdays.

RECYCLING

THURSDAYS ONLY - NEWSPAPERS, ALUMINUM CANS, BI-METAL (TIN) CANS & PLASTICS (drinking cartons, etc.).  If the recycling truck misses you on Thursday, it will not be back until the following Thursday.  If you wish, you may call Republic Waste at 281-446-2030, before 5:00 p.m. should you have any questions. Please remove your green bucket from the curb.

WET NEWSPAPERS WILL NOT BE PICKED UP SINCE THEY ARE NOT RECYCABLE.

On windy days your newspapers get blown around the neighborhood unless they are weighted down.  If you do not have other recyclables to weight them down, please use a heavy object to prevent the littering.  Thank you.
